Time to spruce up your LinkedIn profile? Here are some tips for you!

I went through Taylor Hyde's profile and gave her some tips to utilize the platform better. She is brand new to the platform, so go and connect with her!

#linkedintips:
- Use a custom header image.
- Record a 10-second audio clip and upload it as the "name pronunciation." This is an opportunity to connect with people on a personal level.
- Write a headline that tells what value you can bring.
- Fill the about section with keywords. This is a great opportunity for SEO.
- If you own your own business, make sure you create a company page and add a logo to it.
- Reach out to people you've worked with in the past and ask them to endorse you.
- Create content, content, content! Creating content is the most important part of LinkedIn.
- Don't sell all of the time. Create value and people will give value back.

Building a Brand takes time and consistent effort... 


It is worth it.

Does building a brand take too much work?

If I'm honest, I think about this almost every day. It takes a lot of energy to consistently show up. It takes a lot of effort and time... Is it even worth it?

I'd argue that it is (that's probably not a surprise though).

You see, it's precisely BECAUSE it is so hard that it is worth it.

Let me explain - If building a powerful brand was easy, everyone would have one... and then no one would. Marketing is about STANDING OUT from the competition. In order to stand out, you have to be doing something they aren't.

Put in the work. It'll be worth it! :)

Where business and faith intersect

Many of you may not know, but I am a devout member of my faith.

I’ve been extremely quiet about it on LinkedIn because I wasn’t sure that a business platform was a good place to talk about religion or faith. I’ve decided to change that. My religion and faith are a huge part of who I am. They’ve had a huge impact on my values and the way I conduct business.

Starting today, I’m going to post something faith promoting every Sunday. I believe that spirituality and faith can be a huge force for good in the world... yes, also in business.

Today’s thought: God loves you. Business can be hard and lonely, but know that you are a child of God and that he is fighting for your success.

Trndsttrs "Going Out of Business" Marketing Tactic

‼️ Lets to do something different:
🧐 analyze a marketing tactic from another company.

Last week, Jake Bjorseth of Trndsttrs posted that his company was “for now [….] no more.” Today, after a week of silence, they announced new branding. (links to both posts in the comments)

I've seen opinions, criticisms, and praises of this tactic.

My thoughts:

👍🏻 The Good
Good Marketing creates emotional responses and encourages conversations. This tactic worked. I'm sure Jake and Trndsttrs have had more views and have been more top of mind over the past week. Anecdotally, I’ve been checking Jake’s page almost daily hoping for updates. This was creative, and probably effective. I’m writing about it, aren’t I?

👎🏻 The Bad
Good marketing creates emotional responses and views, but more importantly, it creates trust. This was a potentially dangerous move since some people following Jake and Trndsttrs Media may not trust them anymore.

😧 The Ugly
Honestly, it is a little distasteful because there are a lot of people loosing jobs, and businesses REALLY going under. It’s never good taste to poke fun at other peoples pain.
